(TibetanReview.net, Oct26, 2018) – China made it clear that there was no change in its position to continue to veto any move at the UN Security Council to list Pakistan-based and backed JeM chief Masood Azhar as a terrorist as it signed its first internal security pact with India in New Delhi on Oct 23, reported India’s PTI news agency Oct 23. It has also dismissed allegation of sheltering a militant leader from its northeastern state of Assam even though he roams free in Chinese territory.
During the meeting between India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh and China’s State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi, the latter has made it clear that there was no change in Beijing’s position on India’s request for support to list Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN, saying his country will decide on the issue on the “merits of the matter”.
Kezhi was also reported to have shrugged of allegations that his government was sheltering the hardline United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) leader Paresh Baruah, saying Beijing adhered to the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of others, “As per to India’s request for the listing of Masood (Azhar) we already stated our position for many times.”
Azhar is accused of several deadly terrorist attacks in India, including one on the Uri military base in Kashmir in 2016 in which 17 security personnel were killed, the report noted.
China has repeatedly blocked India’s efforts to designate Azhar under the Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council, citing lack of consensus among the members of the Council. Of course, the lack of consensus was solely on account of China itself.
China comes to Delhi and gives India a “tight slap”. India then signs an agreement that China will not honor, and shakes hand. How long will India keep turning the left cheek, roll out the red carpet for their evil enemy and receive a kick in you know where?
