(TibetanReview.net, Nov03, 2018) – President Lobsang Sangay of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) at Dharamshala, India, has, on Oct 31, met with some members of the Spanish Parliament, the Cortes Generales, after addressing members of CEIM, a confederation of businessmen from Madrid. He was invited by the CEIM to speak and network with the members, said the CTA on its Tibet.net website Nov 1.

Asked how the members could support Tibet, Sangay has called for efforts to protect Tibet’s fragile natural environment.

CTA did not say how many MPs came to meet Sangay who was reported to have thanked them for taking the time to do so despite their ongoing parliament session. He has called the meeting a very positive message to the people in Tibet whose human rights situation, he has explained, continued to be deplorable.

He has invited the members to visit Dharamshala and also called on them to raise the issue of Tibet in their parliament. He has suggested that a Tibet support group be created in the Spanish parliament.

Sangay was later stated to have met with the Mayor of Madrid.

He was also stated to have given a talk on “the values and importance of Tibetan Culture”, accompanied by Venerable Thupten Wangchen, who represents Tibetans in Europe in the Tibetan parliament in Exile at Dharamshala.

Sangay is currently on an intercontinental, multination tour which takes him to Madrid, Geneva, Germany, Washington (DC), Halifax, Toronto, Calgary, New York and the Netherlands.
