(TibetanReview.net, Nov08, 2017) – The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) at Dharamshala, India, announced Nov 7 that its education Kalon (Minister) Mr Ngodup Tsering has been appointed as its new representative at the Office of Tibet in Washington, DC. There is no explanation, however, why he is replacing the incumbent representative Mr Penpa Tsering, who took charge only recently.

CTA said Mr Ngodup Tsering will take charge as the new Representative of North America from Dec 1, 2017.

Mr Ngodup Tsering, born 1953, had joined the CTA service in 1983 after a stint as an exile Tibetan parliament member. He rose through the ranks to become the Secretary of its Department of Education in 1996 and later as the Secretary of the Department of Home in 1999.

He left service shortly afterwards to emigrate to the USA.

He began a second stint at the CTA as the Secretary of the Department of Education in 2012 and was later made its Kalon in Sep 2014. He was again made the education Kalon after the exile Tibetan elections of 2016.
