(TibetanReview.net, Apr 06, 2009) — A group of 11 tourists from Germany arrived on Lhasa for a six-day tour of Tibet Autonomous Region, becoming “the first foreign tourist group Tibet received after it announced on Mar 29 to resume receiving foreign tourists as of Apr 5,” reported China’s official Xinhua news agency Apr 4.

It said some 200 foreign tour groups were likely to visit the region in April.

China had previously claimed that the region had never been closed to foreign tourists and media while allowing none to enter it.
