(TibetanReview.net, Aug19, 2016) – India’s Samajwadi Party leader and former Defence Minister Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav on Aug 18 accused the current ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having previously given Tibet away to China despite his protests, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com Aug 18.

Addressing students of Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University in Lucknow city in his home state of Uttar Pradesh, Mr Yadav has said India’s giving of Tibet to China was a blunder. “I argued on Tibet issue in Lok Sabha. Tibet was like a watchman. If China ever attacked India, it would first enter Tibet. But the BJP government didn’t listen and gave Tibet away to China.”

He specifically named India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying he visited the latter’s home to request support for Tibet and not China, adding “but he didn’t pay any heed.”

Referring to more recent events to speak about China’s perfidy, Mr Yadav has said, “When our Prime Minister Narendra Modi was shaking hands with China, their troops were at our border, ready for an incursion.”

Mr Yadav has also said that while it had been decided in parliament that till China returned India its land, there will be no conversation between the two nations, “our PM shook hands with them. How will a country run when it is being run by a coward?”
