Lhasa airport begins night service

(TibetanReview.net, Nov 14) — The Lhasa Gonggar Airport, located in Gongkar county of Lhokha (Chinese: Shannan) Prefecture, became the latest regional airport in the PRC on Nov 12 to have night flight service, reported China’s official Xinhua news agency Nov 12. It said an Airbus A319 belonging to Air China with 90 passengers took off from the airport at 7:50 pm to land at Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport in neighbouring Sichuan Province at 9:35 pm.

The report said China’s biggest carrier would take off from the airport every Wednesday night for Chengdu.

The 43-year-old airport aims to handle 1.1 million passengers annually by 2010, as against 1.05 million in 2007, the report added
