New school for Chinese immigrants in Lhasa?

(TibetanReview.net, Nov19, 2009)  The Central Government of China is to spend 46 million yuan to build a middle school in Tibet’s capital Lhasa, reported China’s official Xinhuanet news service Nov 17, citing Tibet Business. The school’s location appears to suggest that it is meant mainly for Chinese settlers.

The report said the construction of the school, to be located in Liuwu New District, will start and be completed next year. Liuwu (Tibetan: Ne’u) is a newly created district dominated by Chinese businesses.

The report said the school would provide both junior and senior middle school education to 2,000 students.
