India to study China’s encroachment in Ladakh

(TibetanReview.net, Jan26, 2010)  New Delhi may open a Leh chapter of its China Study Group (CSG) to study the frequent complaints of incursions by the Chinese People's Liberation Army along the Line of Actual Control, reported PTI Jan 24.

The issue was reported to have figured at a high-level meeting recently in Jammu, attended by Defence Minister AK Antony and Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor. When General downplayed the reports of Chinese incursions, state officials reportedly confronted him, saying Indian land along the LAC with Chinese occupied Tibet had shrunk.

The reported cited official sources as saying that a decision had been reached to ask the CSG to go into the issue.

The CSG is a government body in which the Cabinet Secretary and the Secretaries of Home, External Affairs, Defence and representatives of the Army are members.
