The report also cited Yu Dawa, head of the Bureau of Cultural Relics of TAR, as saying 4,268 immovable cultural relics were recorded during the survey.

They included 1,513 ancient relics, 201 ancient tombs, 1,443 ancient architectures and 581 grottos and stone carvings, 207 significant modern architectures, and 23 of other cultural relics.

The report said 35 of the relics were of state level importance while 112 were at regional level and 182 at city or county levels.

The report said that in 2009, the TAR government allocated 15.09 million yuan to launch cultural investigation in 692 townships in 73 counties, covering an area of 1.176 million sq km.
