(TibetanReview.net, Mar18, 2018) – A group of Tibetans living in India, the US and Nepal, said to number around 70, are protesting at the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), Dharamshala, from Mar 17 to 24 to demand the resignation or ouster of President Lobsang Sangay and Parliament in Exile member Tenpa Yarphel. The protest takes place as the parliament discusses the CTA’s annual budget and during which the issues underlying it continue to be hotly debated.
Protesting under the banner of “Truth Seeking Volunteers”, the main grouse of the protesters against President Lobsang Sangay is the manner in which he removed the CTA Representative at the Office of Tibet, Washington, DC, Mr Penpa Tsering, in November last year. The removal had led to protests, including during the previous session of the parliament in Exile.
The Kashag, cabinet of the CTA, had given a belated 10-point statement, explaining the grounds for Penpa Tsering’s removal from office, following outcries of foul play behind the decision. The protesters have called the statement an eyewash, insisting that the real reason was personal grudge.
Within the parliament, calls for the appointment of a committee to enquire into the issue have been raised. However, President Lobsang Sangay made it clear that the only question was whether the ouster of Mr Penpa Tsering was legal or not and the matter could only be decided by judicial recourse. He said that his resignation or the appointment of a committee and its finding would not resolve the issue given the partisanship, even if non-provincial or sectarian, surrounding the debate on it.
The grouse of the protesters against Kagyu MP Tenpa Yarphel is for his having allegedly shown disrespect to the Tibetan state oracle Nechung during a previous parliamentary address.
Leading the protest is Mr Thinley Kelsang from New York City. He was flanked by Thinley Namgyal, also from New York City, and Mr Chime Dorje from Nepal during a press conference Mar 16 announcing the launch of the protest.
The protesters were reported to have submitted a petition to the Parliament in Exile, calling for the impeachment of the two persons.

If you are not blind, come to Dharamsala how Lobsang Sangay has developed progressed our CTA, its day to day administration and new idea and new systems, progressed finance that no Sikyong in the past has ability to do so much. Look and listen Lobsang Sangay has brought our tibetan cause and image on the international platform far more than in the past, and are you demanding resignation of this person who has progressed CTA and tibet cause so much in the past 8 years?
