(TibetanReview.net, Oct06, 2015) – The official dates for offering oneself as a voluntary candidate for the upcoming Tibetan elections has not yet arrived. That will come only after the results of the preliminary voting due on Oct 18 are out. However, given the difficulty of casting one’s vote without a list of candidates for the preliminary poll, five Tibetans have so far offered their candidature for the Sikyong election while a large number of others have offered themselves as candidates for the Tibetan parliament election.

The latest to formally declare his candidature for the Sikyong election is the incumbent executive head of the exile Tibetan administration, Sikyong Lobsang Sangay.

Reports from Dharamshala say Lobsang Sangay declared his candidature at a news conference at the Club House in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamshala, on Oct 5. He was reported to have promised to continue to work on the three principles of his present kashag (or cabinet), namely unity, innovation, and self-reliance, if he is re-elected.

Also, “the next Kashag will strive to solve the Tibet issue in the next five years, while simultaneously focusing on the social and political works in exile if we remain here for the next 50 years,” voatibetanenglish.com Sep 5 quoted him as saying.
