Six killed in coalmine explosion in Pari County, Gansu Province

(TibetanReview.net, Mar 15, 2009) — Six people were killed after a gas blast hit a colliery in Tianzhu (Tibetan: Pari) county of Gansu province on Mar 12, reported China’s official China Daily newspaper Mar 13. It said the blast ripped through a pit of Tanshanling Coal Mine in the only Tibetan autonomous county in Wuwie Prefecture at about 5 am, when 25 miners were checking the shaft.

It said the mine was operated by Longde Coal Industry Co Ltd, which produces about 60,000 tons of coal a year.

The ethnic identity of the victims or workers was not disclosed.
