(TibetanReview.net, Jun27’19) – The visit of President Lobsang Sangay to the UK House of Commons was on Jun 26 warmly acknowledged by Speaker John Bercow who called on him to continue his good and important Tibet work in the face of very considerable pressures. He was seated in the Gallery of the House during the day’s proceeding.

The Speaker noted that there was “very widespread concern for the matter of human rights” and his colleagues would therefore be pleased to welcome him. He noted that the “Sikyong of Central Tibetan Administration, Lobsang Sangay, … has been here before and he is here again.”

“He represents, in a very important way, the people of Tibet. We identify with you, Sir. It is a pleasure to see you again and I think colleagues will feel that way,” Bercow was quoted as saying.

“Please continue your good and important work even in the face of very considerable pressures,” he was stated to have added.

Bercow had previously hosted Sikyong Lobsang Sangay in the Parliament House in Nov 2016, said the Central Tibetan Administration on its Tibet.net website Jun 27.
