(TibetanReview.net, Sep24, 2012) The European Union has said Sep 20 that China should deliver more progress on human rights while the situation in Tibet remains a matter of particular concern during the 15th EU-China summit held in Brussels on Sep 20.

While China had made tremendous progress by lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, there were also concerns, “in particular regarding restrictions of freedom of expression and the situation in Tibet,” said the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and the President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso in a press statement after the summit.

The statement welcomed the resumption of the biannual human right dialogue with China after more than one year.

The Chinese side was led by Premier Wen Jiabao.
