(TibetanReview.net, Jan27’16) – Despite knowing China’s intense hostility towards their exiled spiritual leader, Tibetans in Tehor Township of Kardze (Chinese: Ganzi) County in Sichuan Province have gathered in hundreds on Jan 25 to pray for the Dalai Lama when they heard the news that he was receiving medical treatment in Mayo Clinic, USA, said Washington-based International Campaign for Tibet Jan 25. The campaign group said the rare and bold public gathering showed the strength of feeling and loyalty towards the Dalai Lama.

A video picture circulating online shows hundreds of Tibetan men, women and children seated before a large shrine at a monastery in Trehor, chanting the long-life prayer for the Dalai Lama, the group said. It added that a large portrait of the Dalai Lama was placed on a shrine, with ceremonial scarf and other offerings.

The Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minnesota, had earlier said the Dalai Lama was being treated for a prostate condition common for men of his age and was expected to make a full recovery.

The Dalai Lama himself has said he will resume his normal engagements in March.
