Youth held in Kandze for shouting slogan

(TibetanReview.net, Jan 30) – Police in Sershul town of Karze (Chinese: Ganzi) County in Sichuan Province arrested on Jan 7 a man named Namhka Sonam, 27, after he shouted “Free Tibet and Long Live His Holiness the Dalai Lama”, reported the exile Tibetan government on its Tibet.net web site Jan 29. It said he was severely beaten at the time of his arrest but did not say where the incident took place. His father and brother approached the district authority to plead for his release but failed.
