HRTC(TibetanReview.net, Jul23, 2016) – The Transport Minister of Himachal Pradesh has warned commuters to avoid the about a dozen bus services being run illegally by private entities between Dharamshala and Delhi, reported thehindu.com Jul 21. The minister, Mr GS Bali, has added that the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), the state passenger road transport service provider, will soon add five new Volvo buses to the Dharamshala-Delhi-Dharamshala route to help the commuters avoid these private buses.

Mr Bali has said his department had warned the owners of the private buses on several occasions and that authorities had now been asked to impound these buses.

“Before taking action, I would like to warn passengers travelling in these buses not to do so. Otherwise, they too will have to suffer,” Mr Bali was quoted as saying.

The report noted that the HRTC was currently running three Volvo buses on the route.

Dharamshala has seen a huge surge in visitors in recent years and inter-state mass transport services have been woefully inadequate, forcing people to rely on private operators to meet their travel needs.

  1. I think the Himachal state Govt is not understanding the frequent commuters’ properly. People generally prefer non-volvo buses especially when travelling from Dharamsala to Delhi. Also, State run buses usually drop customers at Dharamsala bus stand while coming from Delhi. The problem is about 60 to 70% commuters needs to go to Mcleod Ganj hence the individual will have to pay extra 200 rupees for taxi to reach Mcleod Ganj from Dharamsala bus station. These private run buses owned by some Indian and Tibetan owners drop the passengers until mcleod ganj.but I did not know these buses were illigal because these buses were operating since 30 years back.
