(TibetanReview.net, May02, 2014) India’s former Defence Minister and leader of the Samajwati Party has on Apr 30 accused successive prime ministers of India of having been too weak to defend India’s strategic interest with regard to the issue of Tibet against China, reported indianexpress.com May 01. Speaking at an election rally at Faizabad in his home state of Uttar Pradesh, Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav has said, “First, BJP’s PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee succumbed and accepted that Tibet is part of China even when Tibet was our friendly nation and we had no threat from its borders. Manmohan Singh too accepted Vajpayee’s blunder and handed over Tibet to China.”

“Our country had suffered due to the weak governments who could not defend national interest,” he was quoted as saying. He has added that China was now again eying India’s territories. In fact, “we have greatest a threat from China and our government is not understanding this fact,” he has said.

He has said India’s first Prime Minister, Mr Jawaharlal Nehru, died due to shock from betrayal by China despite conceding Tibet to China. He has said, “After Chinese attacked India and captured lakhs of hectares of our land, Nehru suffered a shock and later died. Nehru was not suffering from any illness, but died due to China.”
