(TibetanReview.net, Feb 3) – There was only a slight increase in the number of tourists visiting Tibet Autonomous Region during the Chinese Spring Festival week this year which began on Jan 25. The number of visitors was 57,625, a 2.2 percent increase over the same period last year, reported China’s official Xinhua.net Feb 3. It said total income from tourism reached 39 million yuan RMB, a 1.8 percent year-on-year increase.
It said the number of package tourists was close to the same level as last year while the number of self-driving travellers and local tour increased rapidly.
Lhasa and Nyingchi were cited as the hottest spots for tourists.
