(TibetanReview.net, Jun26, 2016) – The Education Department of the Central Tibetan Administration said Jun 24 that it had received a total of 600 applications for its announcement of 348 scholarships for undergraduate courses this year. However, scholarships were awarded to a total of 346 candidates, with 312 being merit based and 34 being need based.
The department said it had altogether announced a total of 639 scholarships for various courses for undergraduate, diploma, vocational, postgraduate, M Phil and PhD candidates this year. These included 105 scholarships being awarded by the Gadhen Phodrang under its Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship programme and 20 from the Government of India through the Central Tibetan Schools Administration, Delhi.
The selection of the winners of the scholarships for the various professional and general courses at undergraduate level, Diploma and Vocational courses for this year were made at a Scholarship Committee meeting on Jun 21.
The Department has said the selection of the winners of the scholarships for the Master’s and above degrees will be made in September.
