(TibetanReview.net, Jan29’21) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will raise the prospect of Britain joining the “Asian Nato” informal alliance when he visits India as part of a post-Brexit strategy, reported thetimes.co.uk Jan 29.

The report said US President Joe Biden was seeking to recruit more members to the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue. The strategic forum to strengthen alliances to counter China, referred to as the Quad, presently consists of the United States, India, Japan and Australia.

The report cited Dominic Raab, the British foreign secretary, as saying during a trip to India last month that Britain had not ruled out joining the alliance.

The prospect would be discussed when the prime minister visited Delhi on his first foreign trip after the end of the Brexit transition period, Raab was reported to have said.
