(TibetanReview.net, Apr21, 2016) – China has yet again cancelled a scheduled concert by a Western pop star because she was seen in a photo with Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, whom it claims is seeking Tibet’s independence. The star, Selena Gomez, was to perform in Guangzhou and Shanghai in early August as part of the Asia leg of her Revival tour, reported pollstarpro.com Apr 19.

Chinese authorities reportedly “blocked” her show after finding a picture in social media showing her in the company of the Dalai Lama, the report said, citing the Daily Mirror.

Gomez was said to have posted the picture of herself in 2014 after she met the Dalai Lama at an event in Vancouver, Canada, two years ago. In the caption she wrote, “words of wisdom #speechless.” The occasion was an event called We Day, a youth empowerment project that takes places in cities around the world.

Last year China cancelled concerts by Bon Jovi and Maroon 5 for the same reason, the report added.
