(TibetanReview.net, Feb 20) — The local Chinese government of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) honoured 12 monasteries and 36 ‘lamas’ on Feb 18 as China patriots. Among those honoured at the commendatory meeting sponsored by TAR Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission, held in Lhasa, were Tashilhunpo Monastery and Qambaling Monastery, reported China’s online Tibet news service eng.tibet.cn Feb 19.
It said those honoured also included Chakzi Bsnyefdrak (or Nyendak), deputy director of the Democratic Management Committee of Tashilhunpo Monastery; Tubdain Nyingbu, deputy director of the Democratic Management Committee of Ngangngur Monastery, Pawo ‘living Buddha’ of Nenang Monastery besides 36 other ‘lamas’.
