(TibetanReview.net, Jun21, 2015) – ‘Tibet’ should respect the religious beliefs and customs of people of all nationalities and continue to strengthen people’s affinity with the Chinese nation, Chinese culture, the Communist Party, and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, China’s minister for minority’s affairs was reported to have said during her Jun 15-18 inspection tour of Tibet Autonomous Region.

Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the CPC United Front Work Department, has said President Xi Jinping’s Jun 10 receiving of the “Panchen Lama” Gyaltsen Norbu in Beijing’s Zhongnanhai reflected not only the growing importance and concern he felt towards the “Panchen Lama” but also the expectations he had for Tibetan Buddhism.

Sun hoped – after also visiting the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple in Lhasa and Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Shigatse – that Tibetan Buddhist circle will firmly uphold national unity, resolutely resist all kinds of separatist and disruptive activities, actively explore the path of adapting Tibetan Buddhism to the socialist society, expound religious doctrine according to the requirements of the times, and that it will play an active role in promoting economic and social development in ‘Tibet’, reported China’s online Tibet news service eng.tibet.cn Jun 19.
