(TibetanReview.net, Sep26, 2015) – Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, is returning to his exile home in India after doctors advised complete rest after a routine annual health exam in Rochester, United States, on Sep 25. His Secretary Mr Chhime Rigzing has said the test results at the Mayo Clinic were positive and that the 80-year-old Dalai Lama had no health complaints.

The Dalai Lama had a particularly hectic series of events this year, including many major ones connected with this 80th birth year. He had only just concluded more than a 10-day trip to the United Kingdom.

The doctors’ advice means that the remainder of the Dalai Lama’s tours of the United States for this and the next month stand cancelled. His scheduled events this month otherwise included a public appearance at the Mullins Center at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on Oct 25 as well as private visits to Amherst and Smith colleges.

The Office of Tibet in Washington, DC, has said it will consider rescheduling the visit in the future.
