(TibetanReview.net, May21, 2017) – The Dalai Lama is to visit the city of Raleigh in the US state of North Carolina in October, although the date and events are yet to be finalized, reported wncn.com May 19. The visit will be funded by a group of local residents, reported wral.com May 19.
The reports said the city’s mayor Nancy McFarlane personally visited Dharamshala, India, to invite the exiled spiritual leader of Tibet.
“There are a lot of pieces of Raleigh that really appeal to him. We’re just really excited he sees something in Raleigh he’s drawn to and wants to come here,” she was quoted as saying. She has said the Tibetan leader will spend several days in the Triangle area of the city.
She has also said one public event will likely be held, with proceeds going to charity, along with visits to area schools.
