Delhi Tibet House to launch Master’s degree in Nalanda Buddhist Philosophy

(TibetanReview.net, Dec01, 2016) – The Dalai Lama is to bless on Dec 9 the launch of a ‘Masters Course on Nalanda Buddhist Philosophy’ by the Tibet House in New Delhi during the Tibetan cultural centre’s four-day Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

The exiled spiritual leader of Tibet will also give a public talk on ‘Meaning of Life and Secular Ethics’ after inaugurating the celebrations.

The whole event will take place at the Thayagraj stadium before a gathering of around 10,000 people.

More than 300 people from some 50 countries have already registered for the course which will be conducted online in English, Geshe Dorji Damdul, the director of Tibet House, was cited as saying at a press briefing Nov 30. He has said the course is offered to participant practitioners with keen interest to delve deeper into Buddhist subjects studied and practiced in the tradition of ancient India’s Nalanda and Tibetan Monastic Universities.

Apart from the head of the exile Tibetan Administration at Dharamshala, Sikyong Lobsang Sangay, those who have confirmed their participation at the function include Najeeb Jung, the Lt Governor of Delhi; Mr Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs; and Dr Mahesh Sharma, the Union Minister of State for Culture & Tourism.
