Exile Tibetan administration vows appropriate response to Dalai Lama defamations

Must Read

(TibetanReview.net, Sep24’24) – The exile Tibetan administration has constituted a committee to counter the dangers posed by those who maliciously defame His Holiness the Dalai Lama with scurrilous remarks, said its members at a press conference in the Lhakpa Tsering Memorial Hall of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) Sep 24. The committee has been formed in the backdrop of a recent online remarks made by a Tibetan man named Sengge, living in Adelaide, Australia, declaring the Central Tibetan Administration (ICTA) and the Dalai Lama as enemies in the fight for independence and calling for their elimination in demeaning terms.

Committee Chairman Mr Karma Choeying, Secretary of the CTA’s DIIR, read an announcement of the committee.

The announcement accused Sengge of making various scurrilous allegations directed at creating disharmony in the Tibetan community in exile. “In particular, he made outrageous remarks threatening the personal safety of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which caused immense concern among Tibetans in Tibet and in exile as well as among his heartfelt devotees and followers.”

The announcement described the author of the defamatory and threatening remarks as a person who goes by the online name of Gangseng (Snow Lion) and whose religious name is Lobsang Gyatso, which means he is a former monk. He was stated to have arrived in India in the year 2000 and availed in 2007 the opportunity of resettling in Australia offered by the CTA.

The announcement said Sengge had started issuing scurrilous remarks against His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the CTA some years ago. It described him as a person who had stubbornly refused to listen to his relatives’ and friends’ pleas to turn back from his misguided view.

Such kind of remarks are naked indications of the taking of the absolutely misguided path, irrespective of any question whether they are related to one’s political ideological differences. They also amount to making criminal instigation and provocation, the announcement further said.

In view of these facts, the CTA would counter with appropriate responses the authors of all such reprehensible activities, whoever they may be and wherever they may be residing, as is only to be expected, the announcement said.

The announcement also urged the general Tibetan public to avoid listening or paying heed to such scurrilous remarks from such persons whose aim it said is to create social disharmony. It urged the public not to store, share or circulate such voice messages in their online social media groups or privately by any means.
