Four held in Chamdo for protesting job discrimination, sending out protest news

Police in Nyinmo township of Palbar county in Chamdo Prefecture arrested in the beginning of Jul’08 two Tibetan men – Palden Choedak and Nyidor – for protesting against the Chinese domination of jobs in the local administration and police force, reported the exile Tibetan government’s Tibet.net Jul 15. They were also reported to have demanded equal employment opportunity for Tibetans. The report said further information was not yet available.

Also reported arrested from the same town were Lobsang Choejor, a local resident enrolled as monk at Bhenkar monastery in Driru county of Nagchu Prefecture, and his lay brother Dorjee Tashi. The report said the two were suspected to have sent outside the country information about Tibetan protests. The report did not say when they were arrested or their place of detention.
