(TibetanReview.net, Mar05, 2015) – Heavy snowfall has killed livestock and stranded people on a highway in Purang (Chinese: Burang) County in western Tibet’s Ngari (Ali) Prefecture on Mar 3 but left infrastructural facilities unaffected, reported China official Xinhua news agency.

It was not clear how many animals were killed but there were no human casualties. The report said the snowfall began on Mar 2 and was 62-cm thick by next day. More than 100 people and 30 vehicles were reported to have got stranded on a national highway, with all having been rescued later on.

The report added that telecommunications, power and water supply had remained unaffected.
