(TibetanReview.net, Apr 03, 2009) — A landmark exhibition centre is to be built in Tibet’s capital Lhasa at a cost of 500 million yuan, reported the official Xinhuanet Apr 1, citing Tibet Investment Promotion Bureau. It was not clear yet when the building would commence. The report said the centre will be located in Dongcheng District of Lhasa city, and cover an area of 33,330 sq m with a total floor space of 100,000 sq m.
The first exhibition centre in the Tibet Autonomous Region will be a multi-functional building integrating exhibition halls, meeting rooms, a press centre, a commercial business centre, and a five-star hotel, the report said.
The report described the exhibition industry as a growing and increasingly bigger engine for economic growth.
