(TibetanReview.net, Mar 19, 2009) — A yet-to-be-occupied, newly built police station was bombed a little past midnight in Bogexi town of Bathang County in Sichuan Province on Mar 16, reported the AP and AFP news agencies Mar 17. There were no casualties, with the damage limited to broken windowpanes.
AFP said China’s official Xinhua news agency blamed terrorists for the blast, providing no further details. “It’s not something serious,” AFP quoted a policeman at the Batang county public security bureau as saying, expressing surprise that the incident was reported in the state media.
Batang is about five miles (seven kilometres) from the border of Tibet Autonomous Region.
