(TibetanReview.net, Mar12’19) – More online reports on the observance of the 60th Tibetan national uprising day across the free world say protest rallies and related events were held in the US cities of Santa Fe, Amherst, and Madison; Scotland’s capital Edinburgh in the UK; Canadian city of Calgary; Australian city of Sydney; and the Japanese capital Tokyo. Besides, Mar 10 was reported to have been declared as Tibet Day in the US cities of Northampton, Amherst, Madison (Dane County) and a number of other places as well.

In Massachusetts, Tibetans and supporters embarked on a two-and-a-half-hour trek from Amherst Town Hall to the Northampton City Hall despite snow and temperatures that were at times below freezing, reported gazettenet.com Mar 10.
The report said members of the Amherst Regional Tibetan Association were joined on the Amherst Town Hall steps by state Rep. Mindy Domb and members of the Amherst Town Council, while state Sen. Jo Comerford and US Rep. Jim McGovern sent messages of support. It added that at Northampton City Hall, the participants were joined by state Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa.
Thondup Tsering, president of the Amherst Regional Tibetan Association, has said around 100 Tibetans lived in the local Pioneer Valley region. He has noted that both Northampton and Amherst had declared Mar 10 as Tibet Day.

In Madison city of Wisconsin, Tibetans and supporters carried out a downtown rally. “You could find countless Tibetan flags at Sunday’s event in downtown Madison,” reported channel3000.com Mar 10.
And on the steps of the City County Building, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi declared Mar 10 Tibet Day in Dane County. The report added that Wisconsin state Legislature first established Tibet Day in 1997.

In the Canadian city of Calgary, capital of Alberta Province, around 300 protesters gathered outside the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China to protest against China’s occupation of Tibet, reported 660citynews.com Mar 10. It said protesters chanted and waved Tibetan flags and also carried signs demanding end to human rights violations in Tibet and shouted long life wishes for the Dalai Lama.

In the Australian city of Sydney, over a hundred Tibetans and supporters participated in a peace march from Martin place in Wynyard to the office of the Chinese consulate, with the event being organised by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) of NSW. The city is home to around 3000 Tibetans.

In Japan’s capital Tokyo, about 150 Tibetans and supporters staged a march, reported www3.nhk.or.jp Mar 10. It said the demonstrators chanted “Freedom for Tibetans,” while holding placards and Tibetan flags. It added that the participants wanted more people in Japan to become aware of the issue of Tibet.
