Telo Tulku Rinpoche takes charge as Dalai Lama’s Moscow envoy

(TibetanReview.net, Feb20, 2015) – Telo Tulku Rinpoche, the spiritual head of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition in the Kalmyk Republic of Russian Federation, has on Feb 18 taken charge as the Dalai Lama’s new Representative at the Office of Tibet in Moscow. The exile Tibetan administration at Dharamshala, India, had announced his appointment as Honorary Representative in Oct 2014.

He took charge from Dr Ngawang Rabgyal at a function attended by “60 dignitaries and guests”, said the exile administration on its Tibet.net website Feb 18.

Telo Rinpoche, born to Kalmyk Mongol parents living in the USA, had studied at a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in South India since the age of 7 following his recognition by the Dalai Lama.

Dr Ngawang Rabgyal joins the exile administration’s Department of Education as a Secretary.
