Tibetan Dy Speaker attends Italian party meet

(TibetanReview.net, Jul28, 2011) Deputy Speaker Ven Khenpo Sonam Tenphel of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile joined top Italian politicians in a meeting of the country’s Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty General Council, which was held in Tunis from Jul 22 to 24. The 82 delegates discussed issues of democracy, non-violence and other topics.

Prominent participants in the meeting included Marco Pannella, member of the European Parliament and President of the Nonviolent Radical Party; Emma Bonino, vice president of the Italian Senate and former Italian Minister of European Affairs and International Trade, and Perduca Marco, a member of Transnational Radical Party.

The Tibetan deputy speaker spoke about the deteriorating human rights and other aspects of the situation in Tibet, China’s negative responses to the exile Tibetans’ calls for negotiations and the exile Tibetan democracy.
