(TibetanReview.net, Oct22, 2012) The exile Tibetan administration’s Special Representative to Europe Mr Kelsang Gyaltsen on Oct 19 met with the US Under Secretary Ms Mario Otero who is also the US State Department’s Special Coordinator for Tibetan issues. The meeting took place in Paris, with the two being joined by the Dalai Lama’s recently appointed Paris-based representative Mr Ngodup Dorjee and Otero’s Senior Advisor Ms Charlotte.
The Special Representative briefed Ms Otero on the situation of the Tibet issue in Europe, underscoring the problems and challenges faced, and made some important suggestions for her consideration, said the Central Tibetan Administration on its Tibet.net website Oct 21. It added that Ms Otero highlighted the key issues and concerns of the US government regarding Tibet and assured her continued support.
The US Government appointed special coordinator on Tibetan issues for the first time under an Act of Congress in 1997, with Ms Otero’s appointment having been made under that Act on Oct 1, 2009 by Secretary of State Ms Hillary R Clinton.
