Two Pashoe monks severely beaten for protesting, one critical

(TibetanReview.net, Feb 3) – A monk of Nera Monastery in Pashoe (Chinese: Basu) County of Chamdo Prefecture in Tibet Autonomous Region was arrested and severely beaten as he staged a protest around midday on Jan 29, reported the exile Tibetan government’s Tibet.net Feb 2. The monk’s name was yet to be ascertained.

It said the monk had shouted slogans calling for the Dalai Lama’s return as he carried a picture of the exile Tibetan leader in both his hands.

The report said the monk was in critical condition and that another monk had also been severely beaten in connection with the same incident.
