(TibetanReview.net, Mar 09, 2009) — Two women, Jampa Lhamo, aged 36, and a nun, Pema Yangzom, 22, were arrested after they staged solo protests on Mar 5 in front of the Karze County police headquarters in Sichuan Province. Radio Free Asia (RFA) Mar 5 cited the nun’s Australia-based uncle Yeshe Dorje as saying his niece staged the protest at around 10:20am while Lhamo did so around 1pm.

Washington-based International Campaign for Tibet said Mar 7 that the two had distributed leaflets and called for the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet, respect for Tibetans’ human rights, religious freedom, and the release of the Panchen Lama and Tibetan prisoners.
