(TibetanReview.net, Jan11, 2018) – Having cancelled most of his overseas tours for this year, including all of his US trips, Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, will not visit the city of Raleigh in the state of North Carolina as previously planned, reported bizjournals.com Jan 10, citing a news release from Mayor Nancy McFarlane.
However, the 82-year-old Noble Peace laureate may visit the US in 2019, McFarlane was cited as saying.
“We remain hopeful he will grace us with his presence at a future date, and Raleigh is committed to making such a visit an enriching experience with lasting benefits for our community,” the Mayor was quoted as saying.
Releigh had planned a series of events for the Dalai Lama in celebration of its designation as a Compassionate City.
