(TibetanReview.net, Dec08, 2017) – The Dalai Lama is to deliver a public talk on ‘Reviving Indian Wisdom in Contemporary India’ at Somaiya Vidyavihar in Mumbai on Dec 10, the 28th anniversary of the conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize on him. He is also to give teachings, with both the events being organized by the Vidyaloke, an Indian wisdom initiative of the Vana Foundation with a vision to revive Indian Wisdom in contemporary India, in collaboration with the Somaiya Vidyavihar over Dec 8-10.
The exile spiritual leader of Tibet left his Dharamshala home on Dec 7 for a 20-day tour of India which will also take him to the Tibetan settlements in Mundgod and Bylakuppe towns as well as to Bengaluru in Karnataka state over Dec 11-26.
In Mundgod he will inaugurate and consecrate a new Drepung Loseling Meditation and Science Centre at the Drepung Monastery during his Dec 11-17 stay there.
The Dalai Lama will then travel to Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement where he will confer a Hayagriva Initiation (tamdin yangsang kawang) at Sera Je Monastery on Dec 20. On the following day he will inaugurate a new debating courtyard at Sera Mey Monastery, which will be followed by a teaching on Tsongkhapa’s In Praise of Dependent Origination (tendrel toepa).
The Dalai Lama next visits Bengaluru from Dec 24 to 26 before heading to New Delhi.
There will also be a series of religious teachings in Bodh Gaya in January.
