(TibetanReview.net, Sep27’19) – Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile was on Sep 26 honoured by a New Delhi-based prominent Indian non-governmental organization for excellence in leadership, said the exile Tibetan administration on its Tibet.net website Sep 27.
Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok was awarded the prestigious ‘Dr. Shyamaprasad Mookerjee National Excellency Award for Outstanding Public Leadership’ by Chanakya Foundation, New Delhi, it said.
The report said Acharya was honoured for his outstanding contribution towards strengthening the Tibetan community, promoting human rights and justice and his leadership in the Tibetan cause.
Those who attended the event were stated to include Mr Rameshwar Teli, Minister of State for Food Processing and Industries, Government of India; Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Former BJP President; Mr Indresh Kumar, Chief of RSS Muslim Manch; Mr Manoj Tewari, Member of Lok Sabha; Prof Kiran Hazarika, member of University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India, and Acharya Gujja Gopal Reddy, also a member UGC.
