(TibetanReview.net, Feb14’19) – Nearly 4000 people from 75 countries, including China and Taiwan, visit the Dalai Lama at his Dharamsala residence, seeking private audiences, during the year 2018, reported timesofindia.com Feb 12.
The report said the visitors included 250 Chinese and 330 Taiwanese who traveled on their respective countries’ passports.
The figures exclude those who attended his lectures and teachings or otherwise sought his blessing outside his residence.
The report cited the Kangra District Superintendent of Police as saying people often have to wait for months or even a year to be able to visit him in his residence, with the arrangements being made by his private office.
The audiences are subject to prior approval by the Indian security establishment.
