59th Tibet uprising anniversary commemorated in Russia

(TibetanReview.net, Mar13, 2018) – The 59th Tibetan national uprising anniversary was observed on Mar 10 with prayer services in Moscow and the republics of Kalmykia and Buryatia in the Russian Federation.

In Moscow, more than 300 people gathered in the “Bele Oblaka” centre in an event jointly organised by the Tibet Culture and Information Center (the Tibet Office Moscow), the Drepung Gomang Center, and the Moscow Tibetan Community.

In Kalmykia, the commemoration prayer service, held at the Potala Culture Centre, was jointly organised by the “Kalmyk Friends of Tibet” and the Klamyk Tibetan Association. Later, monks and kalmyk laypeople gathered at the Buddha statue in the Government building complex and held banners and images of the 152 people who had carried out protest self-immolations in Chinese ruled Tibet since Feb 2009.

And in the Republic of Buryatia, the Local Tibetan Community gathered in a Buddhist temples to hold a prayer service.

Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche at the Office of Tibet, Moscow, has said the anniversary events were carried out successfully and thanked everyone who had shown support and stood with the Tibetan Struggle for many years.

The statements of the Kashag and Tibetan Parliament in Exile were read and distributed at the commemoration events.
