(TibetanReview.net, May21, 2018) – China said May 19 that had an army of more than 5,000 researchers of Tibetan studies across the country. The primary job of a Chinese Tibetology researcher is to prove somehow that Tibet has been part of China since ancient times, that the Tibetan people never had it so good in their entire history as during the current period of direct Chinese rule which began in 1959.
The remark about the number of researchers of Tibetan studies was made by An Qiyi, Party chief of the China Tibetology Research Center, reported China’s official Xinhua news agency May 19.
He was reported to have made the remark at a national Tibetology work conference that opened in Beijing on May 19. He has called on the researchers to help strengthen the Chinese rule in Tibet which international human rights and exile Tibetan groups have described as repressive and colonial and a mortal threat to the region’s historical identity.
Xinhua said An called on the country’s Tibetology researchers to focus on maintaining lasting and long-term social stability in all respects in Tibet and Tibetan ethnic areas, on the unbalanced and insufficient development in Tibet and Tibetan ethnic areas, on the protection and development of excellent ethnic culture and the implementation and on the improvement of central authorities’ policies on supporting Tibet and Tibetan ethnic areas.
The report explained that the other Tibetan ethnic areas were areas where Tibetans lived in the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, Gansu, and Qinghai.
