(TibetanReview.net, Sep09’24) – Troops from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had allegedly camped for some time recently at a location at least 60 km inside Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh and left tell-tale marks to assert their territorial claim to it, reported newsfy.in Sep 6, citing sources it did not mention.
The report said the camping had occurred in Kapapu area of Anjaw district around a week ago.
Pictures of bonfires, spray-painted rocks and Chinese food materials found at the site shared over social media were stated to bear evidences of the recentness of the Chinese incursion.
The pictures also show markings with the year 2024, a tactic reportedly used by the Chinese military during their incursions into Indian territory to assert claims, the report said.
The last Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp near Hadigra Pass on the McMahon Line is located at Kapapu, while Chaglagam, the nearest administrative circle in Anjaw district, is about 90 km from the McMahon Line, noted the report.
Arunachal shares a 1,126-km border with China out of the total 3,488-km Sino-India border.

In another development, the Chinese PLA Western Theatre Command on Sep 6 refuted recent online rumours regarding conflicts at the China-India border and soldier casualties, urging an end to the spread of military-related speculations, reported China’s official globaltimes.cn Sep 7.
The refutation was stated to have been made in response to rumours circulating on Chinese social media platforms recently regarding fabricated videos and images suggesting that there had been a conflict at the China-India border, during which six PLA soldiers sacrificed their lives.
The internet is not a lawless zone, and it is essential to put an end to the production and spreading of military-related rumours, the PLA Western Theatre Command has reportedly said on its official WeChat account.
These reports have emerged after China and India held the 31st Meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs in Beijing on Aug 29. The two sides agreed to work together to turn the page on the border situation at an early date in accordance with the guiding principles of the important common understandings reached between the two foreign ministers, noted the globaltimes.cn report.
