“I have come here to meet His Holiness and express my solidarity with the Tibetan cause,” the PTI news agency Sep 8 quoted her as saying during her visit to the main Tibetan Buddhist temple located just across the Dalai Lama’s residence.

She has also said while interacting with media persons, “I have come here with a spiritual purpose. His Highness Dalai Lama is here today for his ‘darshan’. So, I came to visit him,” according to the hindustantimes.com Sep 7. “We support the cause of Tibet,” she has added.

The meeting took place on a busy day for the Dalai Lama who was offered a long-life prayers ceremony by the Monpa people from Arunachal Pradesh led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Dimple Yadav is the wife of the Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav. The latter’s late father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, was an outspoken supporter of Tibet. He too was a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, besides being a former Defence Minister of India.
