(TibetanReview.net, Jan12’19) – The Chinese government of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) has exalted itself for having taken a “clear-cut” stance against the so-called Dalai Lama clique and resolutely safeguarded China’s national security and core interests. The remark was made by Qi Zhala, chairman of the regional government, in his government work report delivered at the second session of the 11th People’s Congress of TAR, reported the official globaltimes.cn Jan 10.

“Tibet has firmly curbed and cracked down on secession, infiltration and sabotage activities by hostile forces at home and abroad,” he was quoted as saying in his Jan 10 report.

He has said that apart from taking resolute measures to safeguard the stability of the region on certain occasions, the social management governance across the region was strengthened.

Strictly following the revised regulations on religious affairs, the regional government launched last year an education campaign among monks and nuns, and improved the mechanism for long-term monastery management, Qi Zhala has said in his report.

He has also spoken of having strengthened joint efforts in border areas to maintain harmony and stability.

The Dalai Lama, Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, has for decades called for a negotiated autonomy for an undivided Tibet under China’s existing constitutional framework. But Beijing insists on calling him a separatist and maintains that it will talk with him, if at all, only on his personal future.
