(TibetanReview.net, Dec12, 2018) – Further details about the Tibetan youth who carried out a protest self-immolation in Chinese ruled Tibet on Dec 8 say the man is believed to be alive. Drugkho, about 22, set himself on fire outside the Ngaba (Chinese: Aba) County Public Security Bureau, said the Tibetan Service of voanews.com Dec 10.

However, there is still no information about the youth’s health condition and his whereabouts.

The report further said the self-immolator is a former monk of the local Kirti Monastery during which time his name was Choekyi Gyaltsen. He disrobed in 2017 and took the name Drugkho.

The report confirmed that China undertook immediate, routine additional security measures after the incident. This included deployment of additional troops, snapping of communication links, and restricting people’s movements.

These have made getting further information about the incident extremely difficult.
