(TibetanReview.net, Mar11, 2018) – Several hundred people took part in a rally in Taiwan’s capital Taipei to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising on Mar 10, reported newbloommag.net Mar 10. The rally was reported to have taken off from outside the Zhongxiao Fuxing Sogo and continued southeast to Taipei 101 and concluded in a park next to it.
The participants were reported to include members of organizations such as the Human Rights Network for Tibet and Taiwan, Taiwan Friends of Tibet, Students for a Free Tibet, the Taiwan Alliance to End the Death Penalty, the Taiwan Tongzhi Hotline, the Taiwan Association for Human Rights, Covenants Watch, the Taiwan Labor Front, and Third Force parties such as the New Power Party.
Two DPP legislators, including the outspoken Yu Mei-Nu, were stated to be among the speakers. NPP city councillor candidate Lee Ying-Meng, formerly a legislative assistant to Freddy Lim, was also stated to be a speaker.
