(TibetanReview.net, Mar12, 2018) – More than 200 Tibetans and supporters gathered at Schuman Place, the European Commission Building in Brussels, on Mar 10 to commemorate the 59th anniversary of their National Uprising, planting hundreds of their national flag at the place.

Following the singing of the Tibetan national anthem and a symbolic mourning for those who had died resisting the Chinese occupation rule in the last 59 years, the gathering was addressed by the Vice President of Tibetan Community and Representative Tashi Phuntsok of the Central Tibetan Administration at the Office of Tibet, Brussels, with Melanie Blondelle from the International Campaign for Tibet giving the concluding speech.

The gathering then took out a protest march to the Chinese Embassy, shouting slogans such as “We Want Justice” and “Long Live Dalai Lama” through the streets of the Belgian capital.

The Office of Tibet said more than 300 Tibetans had gone to take part in the rally in Geneva, which made the Brussels gathering much smaller than it otherwise would be.
